Small Firm Forum - Darrel DeBoer

From cutting edge green construction to skateboarding on roof tops, come see Darrel DeBoer's amazingly innovative designs and use of materials. His work will inspire you and fuel your creative fires.

Darrel DeBoer looks for less expensive ways to build with natural materials. His intrigue in the structural qualities of bamboo has led him to build more than a dozen bamboo structures in the US despite traditional building practices. He has experimented with straw and found it not only more successful at insulating than wood, but also less likely to burn and attract rodents. DeBoer also makes custom light fixtures and furniture out of natural materials to help bring his buildings to life.
