Lunchtime Learning - Advanced Watercolor

Join Robert Becker for a fast and painless watercolor class. Watercolor is unparalleled in breathing life into an image. Not only the domain of a perspective drawing, watercolor can give the simplest plan, elevation or even a cocktail napkin sketch warmth and atmosphere.

All painting materials will be provided! Please email robert@robertbecker.com a line drawing by 5:00pm on Friday February 6 so Robert can print it onto watercolor paper.

This workshop will give you an easy way to try watercolor without pressure. The exercises will be done on top of your own drawings. By photocopying your own images directly onto watercolor paper, Robert will demonstrate on one copy as you try the technique on another copy at the same time. Each person will have a great hands-on experience. The group will be led through a series of exercises demonstrating watercolor washes on the appropriate areas of your own drawings. Discussions about materials, techniques, and style will accompany the painting experience.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Wet on wet techniques
  • Controlling watercolor
  • Setting focus with paint, light, color and contrast
  • Experimenting
  • Masking
