As part of the Western Addition Area A-2 Redevelopment program, the commercial revitalization of Lower Fillmore Street (from Geary to Turk) will generate job opportunities for neighborhood residents, increase the market for neighborhood businesses and increase tax revenues (property, sales, and business) to the City. The project will establish Lower Fillmore as a destination retail-entertainment area organized around the theme of a Jazz Preservation District.
To date, the Agency has identified the revitalization strategy and theme; master-leased available commercial space in the project area's gateway block (Fillmore from Geary to O'Farrell); assessed the Project's economic feasibility and verified community support and tenant interest in the theme.
