The U.S. Green Building Council, Northern California Chapter (USGBC-NCC) presents the 1st Annual Green Building Super Heroes Award Gala, a special event at the Mezzanine in San Francisco http://www.mezzaninesf.com/club.asp. The reception begins at 5:30 and the program will begin at 6:30.
Tickets are $75 in advance (buy online), or $100 at the door.The Gala features a a Super Heroes theme, with costumed super heroes, special VIP speakers (to be announced soon), a chance to win dinner for two at Chez Panisse, gift bags with green goodies, the Lee Bloom Jazz Combo, and a festive and fun atmosphere. A special prize goes to the most creative green building super hero costume!
USGBC-NCC will honor 4 pioneers of the green building movement from Northern California, in different industry categories:
Founder's Award
David Gottfried, founder of USGBC. David held the first Board meeting of USGBC in our current office in San Francisco in 1993.
Individual
Mrs. Huang - The owner of The Orchard Hotel, a LEED Certified Hotel .
Non-Profit Organization
Ella Baker Center for Human Rights - Van Jones. Van and the Center are pioneers in incorporating social justice and equity issues in the green movement. Van is a leader of the Apollo Project and works with low-income people in Oakland to promote good (green) jobs and social justice.
Corporation
Fireman's Fund - launched the nation's first "green insurance" program that offers a 5% discount if you build a LEED building.
The program starts at 6:30 with a before and after reception featuring The Lee Bloom Jazz Combo. So grab your most creative super hero costume for a chance to win a special green prize, and join us for a night of fun! Tickets are on sale now on our website.
