ADA Day: Accessibility Issues for California Architects


5 Hours, 1 Day - ADA Day

Complete all five hours of Mandatory Continuing Education required for your 2011 licensure renewal in one easy day.

These three programs are new to the Bay Area. Presenters include:


Timothy Gilbert, Principal of Moore Iacofano Goltsman, Inc. (MIG)


Tim is a licensed landscape architect in two states, with experience in public agency planning, building code enforcement and park design. He has evaluated, planned and designed a wide range of recreation and community service facilities throughout the United States, including parks, playgrounds, gardens, schools, child care centers, courthouses, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers. He emphasizes staff and community involvement in the design process, community preference surveys, public workshops, and universal design. Tim is ICC-certified (International Code Council) as an Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner.


Gilda Puente-Peters, Architects, CASp


Gilda Puente-Peters, Principal of Gilda Puente-Peters, Architects (GPPA), Universal Design Specialists, is a CASp certified architect with over 20 years of experience in the access compliance field. Gilda has developed an extensive curriculum and has provided accessibility trainings throughout the State of California and Internationally.


Key Accessibility Components for Assembly, Business/Mercantile and Educational Occupancies
Gilda Puente-Peters, Architect, CASp will provide an accessibility review that focuses specifically on key components for accessible design of Assembly, Business/Mercantile and Educational facilities. During this class you will gain a better understanding of the code requirements for these types of facilities; explore common industry errors, as well as best practices; and see how your designs impact the way in which persons with disabilities navigate the built-environment.
