East Asian Library Tour

This tour will explore the design and construction of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library at UC Berkeley and the building's place on campus. Tom Eliot Fisch was involved in the East Asian Library from Schematic Design onward. Throughout the project, they were committed to insuring that Tod Williams and Billie Tsien's vision of this building became a reality on campus.

Tom Eliot Fisch is a 22 people architecture and interior design firm in San Francisco committed to creating engaging, humane and inspiring spaces for clients who care about the built environment in a practice marked by principal involvement, exceptional design, delivery standards and ethics. Their clients range from education institutions to private developers and municipalities.

The tour will be led by Alyosha Verzhbinsky, AIA of Tom Eliot Fisch Architects, and Deborah Rudolph, Ph.d. of the C.V. Starr Eas Asian Library. It will focus on how the building fits on campus, major design strategies and construction challenges we faced during the 24 months it took to build it.
