ASHRAE 189.1 - High Performance Green Buildings

MollyMcGuire is returning to AIA East Bay to discuss the development of the ASHRAE 189.1 Standard. Developed by ASHRAE, IESNA and USGBC, 189.1 addresses the design of high-performance green buildings and is intended for adoption into model building codes. Standard 189.1 does not include low-rise residential buildings. The standard is meant to provide minimum requirements for the setting, design, construction of high performance designs. The goal is to promote green buildings that balance environmental responsibility, resource efficiency, occupant comfort and well being without compromising.

Molly McGuire is a mechanical engineer with Taylor Engineering. Molly was on the task force developing the standard with ASHRAE focusing on indoor air quality, energy and atmosphere.
